When your body breaks free from restrictions caused by injury, stress, postural habits, and life in general, you feel choice enter. When have choice in your body, you no longer move against force, you move with it. Pillar 2: Fitness/Strength
Having the freedom to move within your body gained from the first pillar, it is also important to build strength and fitness in the correct manner. This is achieved by utilizing the center of your body, moving and stabilizing from the middle. This allows you to feel stable, strong, and grounded. (Tree photo)
Pillar 3: Nutrition/Health
The gut is the foundation to health, and food is the way to the gut. Cleansing and restoring the gut along with your internal organ systems helps reset and revive the overall body, creating a wholesome restart to the rest of your life. Discovering food sensitivities, healing the damage from those foods, while creating meals that nourish your overall system will keep you energized in the saddle to meet your training goals.

Pillar 4: Spirit/Life Balance
Goal-oriented riders often face multiple pulls on your energy, be it careers, family, relationships, or other interests. It can be difficult getting it all done and still have time for you. Riding is often the first to go, yet it can be the most healing and rejuvenating activity for us. Finding the balance to live full, creative, goal-oriented lives is the final pillar of PDB.

As stated previously, the gut is the cornerstone to full body wellness. Ridding the diet of unnecessary fillers and supplements, healing any challenges from stress and/or bad diet, and providing a base of high quality forage and protein, along with support for your horse’s individual needs will build a happy, contented, athlete to be your partner for years.

Like humans, horses can hold tension and trauma in their body. Thus creating patterns of movement or lack of movmenet/restrictions. By releasing both energetic and physical blockages, the body can begin to heal and once again create choice. Choice leads to greater range of motion, freedom in joints, bones and muscles.

Pillar 3: Spirit/Lifestyle
Horses are wild, herd animals. Domesticating them means we get to harness the power and joy of their being, but it also means they lose their natural way of life—roaming for 20 plus miles daily, continually foraging for nutrients, playing and creating relationships with their herd members. Providing this natural environment, as close as possible, is an ongoing difficult endeavor, but one which we can always do a little better.

Even the world's best trained horse can learn new and helpful tools. And the oldest horse with manners and postural habits "that will never change, because that's how he's always been," can create a new body. Teaching horses to think differently and to use their body differently can often lead to happier partners with your desired behavior. This is not a training program, but rather a posture therapy program.
